Rough Start!
This morning we woke up at 6:00 and got ready to head out to Milan. We hopped on the subway at 6:45 headed for the train station to catch a 7:45 train. When we got off the subway we went to information to ask if they knew where we had to get on the train. Funny the people at information can`t speak English! We ran outside the subway station and looked around to find there was a train station across the road. We ran across the road and into this huge train station. We had no idea where to go or what to do. We finally found out we had to go to the ticket booth to validate our Eurorail passes. Thanks to Bri for reminding me we had to do that. The one thing we did not know though was that you had to have reservations for the train. It was now 7:30 so we ran for the train and asked on lady where we had to go and she said we had first class tickets, so we ran to first class where the man there told us we had to have reservations. Darren took off running back to the station and I yelled at him, lets just get on here. We got on the train and it left the station headed for Milan. We had not had any breakfast and we were sure we were in shit if they asked for our tickets. I was so hungry and Darren said lets go to the meal car but I was scared to leave our seat in case someone asked for out tickets. Sure enough half our into the ride the same guy who told us we needed reservations came by to stamp our tickets, which we did not have!!! It was okay as he sold some to us, thank god. The rest of the trip was uneventful, unless you ask Darren who is not so politically correct and he would say we had a retard behind us and a f***ing cat two rows up from us. Between the two they never stopped the whole trip. We made it to Milan without any other incident and our hotel was very easy to find. We went back to the train station later to reserve our tickets for our trip to Venice in two days, so we should be good to go that morning, I hope. We are having an early evening tonight after an eventful day if you ask me. Here are some pictures Darren took of the countryside from the train. I'm glad you had at least one true experience with French Customer Service, lol. No visit to France is complete without it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Milan, Appertivo and the Duomo. In case you are going to see a soccer match, both AC and Inter Milan play at the same stadium (but they call it different names). If you ask for directions and the person you ask is a fan of the other team, they will give you the wrong directions (ie. get directions before you leave for the game). ciao...
what is a trip without a huge learning curve, they wouldnt have thrown you off a moving train silly...good job Darren..someone has to be focused..just kidding kiddo..

Hope you are having a ball! Mom picked my kids up yesterday and went and hung out at your house. They let the cat out for me and then kayden sat and played on your front porch and ate and ice cream cone (mom says it was just a plain cone but not sure if I believe her!) Then they went for a walk up the street and returned to my house. I went up after work and chased Minners back in the house. She was not too happy about that. It is snowing here at work and has been all week, so I hope you are having better weather than I am! Drink some wine for me :) Can't wait to see where you are next!
