Two Great Days in Rome and Danielle Gets a New Passport

The whole passport problem has now been dealt with, actually fairly quickly and not to painfully we might say, Danielle now has a new white Canadian passport that will let her continue to travel! We have also had a great two days in Rome touring around with minimal rain unless you count the torrential down pour we had two nights ago! Yesterday we started off by heading to the Coliseum and then continued onto the Forum and Palatine Hill where we had a great look at all the roman runes and learned about their history through a great self guided tour from the Rick Steve`s book. We then went on a tour through Rome, again guided by the Rick Steve`s book where we started at Campo De` Fiori, next went to the Piazza Navona followed by the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish steps. We capped the evening off with dinner near the Trevi Fountain and then some pictures of the fountain after dark. Today we got my new passport in the morning and then headed off to a guided tour by Brendan from Through Eternity of the Vatican. Brendan was a great tour guide and the tour took 4 hours, skipping all the lines up`s. The Vatican, in particular the Sistine Chapel and St Peter`s Basilica were highlights of the trip. It has now started raining again, fairly typical of our journey and we are headed off the dinner. Tomorrow is our last day in Rome and then we head for the Amalfi Coast for four days.
